A weekend at Me Madrid Reina Victoria

A weekend at Me Madrid Reina Victoria

Me Madrid Reina Victoria – Getting There

This hotel is in the center of Madrid at walkable distance of major tourist objectives. There are so many ways you can get to the hotel in case you arrive to Madrid by plane. This time, we took a taxi from the airport and it was around 30 minutes of distance and we paid 40 EUR. Other options are taking a bus, the subway, a shuttle or an Uber depending on your budget and patience ;).

Exact address: Plaza de Santa Ana, 14 (1,546.61 mi), Madrid, Spain 28012.

Me Madrid Reina Victoria – Hotel Description

The hotel ME by Melia is surrounded by the main theaters, boutiques and bars. It is the perfect location for the young tourist who feel energized and want to discover both day and night life of Madrid.

Radio ME Madrid Rooftop Bar

The spectacular panoramic view of the city which guests can enjoy from the rooftop makes this hotel one of a kind. I heard people mentioning the rooftop when I had breakfast. I did not know about that amazing features which brings a plus of fun to the hotel. Radio ME Madrid Rooftop Bar is a beautifully designed setting at the last floor of the hotel. Getting up there I did not expect to discover more than a normal terrace.

To my surprise, the hotel has set up a wonderful place to spend an afternoon or the evening. It has a feeling of a lounge during the afternoon. Guests can serve tea, cocktails or enjoy a delicious desert. It was an excellent night under the stars. Cool music, well-dressed happy people around and a wide variety of cocktails to choose from.

The food and drinks @ Me by Melia

ME’s restaurant Ana La Santa offers delicious food and beautiful plating. All dishes are designed to be instagramed (or so it felt). You can find there the tapas or paella dishes, also you can have the fresh salads, meet and fish. A menu to satisfy any nationality. It’s wise to make a reservation, because the restaurant is opened to people from the city as well as to the hotel’s guests. It is easy to understand why; the food and ambiance are spectacular. The setting is simple, chic and minimalist, it is more about the vibe of Ana La Santa, than the fancy furniture. It allows people to be the center of attention, it is subtle and comfortable.

The social media channels

As any hotel, which cares about building a brand online, ME by Melia has an Instagram account where you can better understand the young, cool, artsy vibe of the hotel and its guests. They have a Facebook page with tons of uploaded pictures and videos, which makes it easier for their guests to discover the place even before arriving.

The surprise was to discover that ME by Melia also has a wonderful YouTube channel. As a digital marketer, I am always interested in the level of work the hotel does to promote itself. Well, let me just say that ME by Melia is doing an excellent work. I have no idea if they have a team in house or they outsourced the marketing task, but it looks fantastic. They upload on YouTube presentation videos, and rooftop parties and many other great clips with nice music on the background.

A Hotel in Venice Italy

A Hotel in Venice Italy

For a short weekend trip in the summer of 2018 I had the chance to stay at Diana Hotel in Venice. Being my first trip ever to Venice, you can imagine my enthusiasm. Filled with curiosity and excitement I started discovering the map of Venice. I carefully planned my trip so that there was enough time for sight-seeing and relaxing moments. To visit all the major objectives, you don’t need more than three days in Venice. So, my friend and I booked three nights at a central hotel.

Diana Hotel in Venice– Getting There

We left our car in Mestre because parking spaces in Venice cost too much and we were not sure we want to spend time every day to look for a parking space. Mestre is located 6 miles from Venice. Besides buses and trains, there is also a tram service.

We choose the tram and off we go. Why did we go for the tram? Well, it has stops in many locations along the way and we wanted to discover the area. In case you book a hotel in Mestre you can easily get to the tram and off to Venice.

A tram ticket is each time € 1,50. The price is low, but if you want to combine it with the vaporetto boats in Venice it gets up to EUR 7.5 per ticket. The alternative is to buy a Tourist Travel Card.It costs EUR 20 per day or EUR 40 for 3 days.

Closest airports to Venice

There are three ways which can get you to Venice by airplane. You can land on Venice Marco Polo Airport, Treviso Airport or Trieste Airport.

Nearby Landmarks of my hotel in Venice

The Diana Hotel in Venice is in a 15th-century building at 50 m from St. Mark’s Square. This location was part of the reason we decided to go for the hotel in the first place. Secondly, the pictures on Booking.com were cute.

Other nearby objectives you can find at a walking distance are Bell Tower of San Marco, Basilica San Marco, The Ducal Palace and the famous Rialto Bridge. Imagine all these beautiful places in a small area for you to photograph and enjoy. Pinterest and Instagram heaven you may say.

The downside is that Venice is such a small city and all tourists are crowded into the same small area of hotels in the center. So, beautiful pictures at the landmarks require waiting in line for 25 minutes to be able to take your picture.

Diana Hotel in Venice– Hotel Description

The hotel’s reception from one reason or another is in the hotel across the street from Diana Hotel. It was surprising to arrive in front of the hotel and read a sign which sent us to a different address. Since the street is not wider than 1 m that was something which we solved easily.

The food and drinks @Diana Hotel in Venice

The only meal we had at the hotel was breakfast. That wasn’t as nice of an experience as we imagined. Maybe it was my image of Italy and my love affair with nicely decorated tables, or maybe it was just them.

The small breakfast room had around 5 tables and a buffet. The food was the basic of the most basic you have seen: cheese, salami, bread, butter, cereals and croissants. The drinks were served at the table by a smiling couple of waitresses. I had the hot chocolate, but could drink it because it wasn’t nice enough.

The had normal coffee, milk, juice and tea to offer, but nothing looked appetizing. I guess the colors used in a kitchen and the tableware make magic. Their look was old and feel was outdated.

The social media channels for my hotel in Venice

As you can imagine the  Hotel Diana Venice  has no Instagram account and there are no hashtags on Instagram associated with the hotel’s name. There were some people brave enough to check in at the Hotel Diana Venice, but hey the world is a playground and anyone can explore it as he/she wishes.

Staying at Grey Hotel Kopaonik

Grey Hotel Kopaonik – Getting There

My experience at Grey Hotel Kopaonik happened this winter in the month of December. I decided to go for a sky trip with a group of friends. It was a group of six people in total. The destination was the place anyone wanted to be at in Serbia’s mountains: the region called Kopaonik.

I wasn’t the one to choose the Grey Hotel Kopaonik. One of our friends made the reservation and told us he knew the hotel from a previous trip. Since this was a last moment decision, we did not investigate potential hotels and went with our friend’s recommendation.

Grey Hotel Kopaonik – hotel description

Grey Hotel is a small boutique type of hotel in the mountain area named Kopaonik. The hotel has a small number of rooms: 13. First impression arriving at the front desk: the place is small and it has no parking. Well, those were false assumptions. We did discover they had a covered parking space, a proper garage, which proved excellent for the cars because of the freezing temperatures.

Regarding the size of the hotel, well size is not everything after all. It is a small sized hotel, but the spaces are very nicely compartmented. True the reception area is small, but the staff had huge smiles and they welcomed us with a good English and a friendly attitude.

The rooms are excellently decorated and the materials, textures, colors and design speak good quality.

The food and drinks

The restaurant of the Grey Hotel Kopaonik had excellent views from two sides towards the ski slopes.

The Grey Hotel Kopaonik bar and coffee shop had a central piece of decoration: a huge fireplaces. I can’t emphases enough the enthusiasm of all the ladies tourists taking selfies and sharing that piece of decoration on social media.

The exterior terrace wasn’t ready when we got there. The staff was still working on cleaning all the snow away and preparing the exterior furniture.

The Social Media Channels

The social media channels speak about the Kopaonik region more than they speak about the Grey Hotel. It seems that the hotel didn’t do anything on social media to promote their brand. Or, at least we did not find anything online on instagram, Pinterest, Facebook or Youtube.

Grey Hotel Kopaonik proved to be an excellent choice for our group. We had a wonderful time outside in the snow. The boys got to ski and the girls did some wonderful selfies around the bar and coffee shop area. We declared it a satisfying trip. We kindly recommended to anyone traveling to Kopaonik. It offers intimacy, fast access to the ski slopes, beautiful interior design, tasty food and superb views.
